Jonah Elijah’s work is a manifestation of his ability to capture the nuances of the humanity of  universal blackness fictitiously and non-fictitiously. He experiments with the intricacies of identity through personal narratives,  ideologies, religion, mythology, history, and memory .   Ambiguity and familiarity serve as guiding principles driving Jonah Elijah's creativity.  Inspired by his formative years in a predominantly Black neighborhood, Jonah fuses memories and present day to craft cinematic scenes that evoke nostalgia and provide a visual critique of Blackness in America. Jonah consistently seeks novel ways to flesh out his ideas through sculpture, painting and drawing . Recently, he has been experimenting with perspective, capturing scenes from unusual angles that invite viewers into a world of potential existence. Jonah's work not only allows viewers to observe these experiences but also invites them to feel immersed in his broader community, offering glimpses into his lived experience.
